Privacy Notice
Last updated: July 30, 2026
1. Who we are
SpeakCents is operated by Digital Genius LLC ("we", "us", "our"). We act as the data controller for personal information collected through the SpeakCents website and app (the "Service"). This Notice explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and your rights.
2. Information we collect
- Account data: name, email address, password (hashed), profile settings.
- Financial data you enter: transactions, budgets, goals, accounts, retirement scenarios, and any notes you attach.
- Bank connection data (optional, Pro and Family plans): if you connect a bank via Plaid, we receive account and transaction data from your financial institution through Plaid.
- Voice input: short audio you record when using the mic. Audio is processed to transcribe your command and is not retained after transcription.
- Support messages: anything you send us through the Support form or email.
- Usage and device data: IP address, browser, device identifiers, pages visited, and basic telemetry needed to run and secure the Service.
3. How we use your information
- Create and secure your account.
- Provide the Service — voice tracking, budgeting, retirement modeling, sharing, and analytics inside the app.
- Process payments through our reseller Paddle.
- Prevent fraud and abuse and enforce our Terms.
- Improve the Service and fix bugs.
- Communicate with you about your account, changes, and support requests.
4. Legal bases for processing
We process personal data on the basis of: performance of the contract (providing the Service you signed up for), our legitimate interests (running, securing, and improving the Service), your consent (for optional features like bank connection), and compliance with legal obligations.
5. Who we share data with
- Paddle.com — our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles checkout, payment processing, tax, invoicing, and subscription management. Paddle receives your name, email, billing address, and payment details directly.
- Supabase — hosting and database provider that stores your account and app data.
- Google (Gemini) — voice transcription and AI-generated summaries. Audio and requests are processed to return results and are not used to train models.
- Plaid — bank connectivity, if you choose to link a bank account.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) and authorities where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
6. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data during international transfers.
7. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete all of your data at any time via Profile → Danger Zone → Clear all data, or delete your account entirely. Backups are purged on a rolling schedule. Payment and tax records held by Paddle are retained per Paddle's own policy and applicable law.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. For users in the UK/EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We aim to respond to requests within 30 days. Contact us through the Support page.
9. Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, encryption at rest, row-level security on our database, and access controls limiting who on our team can view account data.
10. Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies and browser storage items to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences (such as theme and household view). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
11. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to this Notice
We may update this Notice from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by email.
